Truth or Dare (2018)

We live in abundant times. Anything we want is ours to take. Anything we imagine, we realise.
Yet antidepressant use is on the rise and psychotherapists are fully booked.
How did this happen?

We witness an ordinary man during extraordinary therapy.

What is he suffering from? Anxiety? Burn-out? Post traumatic stress? A broken heart?
Will he find what he needs?

‘Truth or Dare’ is a physical theatre performance where we dig into causes, symptoms and cures.

Theater artist & Creative Entrepreneur
Manu graduated in physical theater from Acsent in Belgium. After his studies he soon started to focus on creating his own work. This resulted in co-founding company FEST. His work is dominated by an interest in the human nature.
Manu performed in street theater, improv, short films and theater performances.
He also organizes theater workshops for children and communication coaching for managers.

    Khandhas (2016)

    Khandhas door FEST

    “Khandhas“ is a soloperformance by Ann Willemsen directed by Manu Luyten.

    According to the Buddha, “Desires are the cause of all suffering”. One must overcome all attachment to overcome suffering.
    2500 years later a woman reflects on her life. Amidst everything she has and is, she wonders about letting go.

    She wants more
    She desires
    She wants less
    She has ideas
    She knows her desire
    She desires to desire less

    “Khandhas” is a Buddhist term and refers to all that a man can attach to. The performance was created out of a personal exploration of detachment. The result exhibits the tension between letting go and finding support.

    Performer & Creative Entrepreneur

    Ann has more than 10 years of professional stage experience.
    She danced in musicals and operas produced by Studio 100 and Holland Opera. She created choreographies for musicals, beauty pageants, street performances and dance classes. As an actress she is familiar with different genres.
    Her passion is physical theatre. She performed in plays such as “Passion according to Clarice” and “Drog”.
    In 2013 she successfully founded her own theatre company, FEST.

    ‘Reflectie’ is a collage from the life of 3 figures.
    Gazing at their reflection, they discover themselves, the other, another self.
    Full of questions, desires and expectations they are looking for life, in a world full of mirrors.
    Their opinions and desires crash, bend and burst.
    Together they symbolise a world where authenticity is a goal in itself.
